The Mac Box Set

Date January 28, 2009

I am a late adopter when it comes to software.  Don’t get me wrong I would love to be able to purchase items when they become available.  However, I find that if you wait you can usually save some money and avoid any initial bugs.  Today I get to break with my usual course of action (sort of).  I found today that you can order a box set which includes Mac OS X v10.5.6 Leopard, iLife ‘09, and iWork ‘09 at a great price.  I have waited quite a while to upgrade to Mac Box SetLeopard because I could not justify the expense in my budget.  However, at the price of the Box Set I cannot pass it up.  you can save over 40% when you order through Amazon.

I am most excited about iPhoto ‘09.  One of my frustrations has been a way to organize my photos that made sense.  With “Faces” and “Places” I should now be able to do just that.  With Faces you can use a facial recognition tool to identify people in pictures that you take.  Then your library is searched to identify any other pictures with that person.  With Places your pictures are tagged with any gps information from your camera and then categorized into locations.  This will work great with my iPhone.

There are also upgrades to iWork, iMovie and Garage Band.

I will post a more detailed review once I recieve and start using the Mac Box Set.
